Leica CW4000

Cytogenetics workstation

Overview

Leica CW4000 Product Icon

The Leica CW4000 total imaging solution combines a number of cytogenetics imaging applications with Leica microscopes and cameras to offer a flexible cytogenetics imaging system. Leica CW4000 comes in a variety of configurations, offering application solutions for Karyotyping, FISH, MFISH and CGH analysis. Applications range from karyotyping human metaphases in clinical applications to non-human karyotyping in research institutes as well as offering professional solutions for experiments such as advanced multicolor FISH assays in cancer and oncology studies.

Key Features

  • True High Resolution Karyotyping that allows perfect karyotyping of images acquired using either standard video cameras or Firewire Digital cameras with mega pixel resolution – this provides the best quality images.
  • CW4000 handles images intelligently – this means that there is no need to delete background and provides the reassurance that there is no permanent deletion of telomeres and satellites, you gain total confidence in your results.
  • Advanced chromosomes separation tools are provided, saving you time when editing a metaphase – this increases throughput and productivity.
  • Extensive Research and Development in collaboration with some of the leading figures in Cytogenetics research, allows Leica to deliver frequent product innovations.
  • A modular platform allows functionality to be easily upgraded with additional imaging applications, as your laboratory requirements increase. This means CW4000 offers the best quality images, with the most advanced karyotyping tools.

CW4000 combines the latest hardware innovations from Microscopy and Camera development with advanced software, offering complete solutions for all Cytogenetic Applications. Leica CW4000 is a modular system and includes a full range of Karyotyping, FISH, CGH and MFISH options using either standard CCD cameras or the latest Leica Digital Firewire Cameras. This offers you an outstanding system with accurate, detailed and high quality images and data. To help us select the right Cytogenetic system for you, we would need answers to the following questions:
  • Would I benefit from using High Resolution Digital cameras, or will standard video CCD cameras be adequate?
  • Do I require a Network solution, or a stand-alone workstation?
  • Do I need a full software suite – Karyotyping, FISH, CGH and MFISH
  • Will I interface the system to existing microscopes using a C mount adaptor, or do I require a new microscope?
Leica CW4000 can be used with Video CCD cameras which offer good quality Brightfield and Fluorescence images. Spatial resolution is approximately 768 x 575 pixels, and allow camera exposure(integration) times of approximately 5 seconds. These cameras are suitable for a wide range of Cytogenetic investigations, and are used widely. Leica CW4000 can also be used with the latest Firewire Digital cameras – these cameras offer Mega pixel resolution images (1280 x 1024 as a minimum, with exposure times typically up to 30 seconds or greater. Cameras that are particularly suitable for use with CW4000 include the Leica DFC320 and DFC350FX. Firewire cameras offer the best possible resolution images and CW4000 software allows karyotyping and analysis of high resolution images, with no need for binning i.e. you can take advantage of the full CCD chip resolution.
CW4000 has also been optimised for use with the new Leica Digital microscopes (DM4000B, DM5000 and DM6000) which combine Intelligence, Comfort and Brilliance with integrated software. This provides a perfect combination of microscope and Cytogenetics imaging software. Leica’s new Digital Microscope take the guess work out of setting up the Microscope Aperture, Field Diaphragm and Lamp Levels – both in brightfield and Fluorescence. You can change illumination modes at the touch of a single button and all adjustments of the microscope are made automatically. You can use a Leica Digital microscope to easily capture Images of combined Immuno staining and FISH samples, as well conventional brightfield, FISH, CGH and MFISH samples.
